Programs of Study

Augusta Technical College operates under the supervision of the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia, serving the needs of business, industry, and the public in a five-county area in east central Georgia. Augusta Technical College is a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia.

 

Associate Degree, Diploma, and Technical Certificate of Credit Programs: The associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit programs offered at Augusta Technical College provide instruction that develops the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for employment in career occupations. Programs are offered in the School of Arts and Sciences, T.R. Reddy School of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, School of Business, School of Cyber and Design Media, School of Health Sciences, and School of Public and Professional Services. All programs are offered on a full-time or part-time basis, ranging from one term to two years. Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:50 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Weekend classes are also scheduled as needed. Since the demand for most programs is heavy, prospective students should apply well ahead of desired entry dates. Applicants are admitted in the order of successful completion of entrance requirements or on a competitive basis for the program desired.

 

Adult Education: The Adult Education Program offers free classes in the areas of Adult Literacy, High School Equivalency preparation, and English as a Second Language (ESL).  The Adult Education Program also offers classes for those who hold a Degree or Diploma seeking additional learning support or transition to college/workforce services. Adult Education classes are offered in Burke, Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie, and Richmond counties.

Students seeking to enter the Adult Education Program are required to complete registration, orientation, and TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) or BEST Literacy (ESL) testing. Individuals 18 and over will need a valid legal picture identification to register. Individuals 16 or 17 years old will need a valid legal picture identification, withdrawal form from the last school attended (on school letterhead), Parents’ Permission form (available in office), and parent’s identification to register.

Corporate and Community Education:  The Office of Corporate and Community Education offers non-credit courses, seminars, workshops, and customized training designed to be responsive to the lifelong learning needs of individuals as well as the workforce development needs of local businesses. Courses may be as short as a half-day or as long as a whole semester term.  A class schedule is developed; however, new courses may be offered on request, and customized training can be arranged to meet the business partners' needs. Courses and training are offered day and evening at the college or may be offered in partnership with off-campus locations and worksites.  In addition, the office offers 100% on-line continuing education classes covering a variety of personal and professional development topics.

Senior citizen fee waivers are not applicable for continuing education non-credit courses, seminars, workshops, and customized courses.

 

Learning Support Classes: Learning Support classes provide instructions to develop mathematics and language/reading skills. Development of these skills allows students to reach mastery levels recommended for success in their courses or programs of study.
