Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990
The “Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990” requires students who commit certain felony offenses involving marijuana, controlled substances, or dangerous drugs to be: 1. a) suspended from postsecondary public education institutions and b) denied state funds from the date of conviction to the completion of the next academic term, and 2) denied state funds at postsecondary nonpublic educational institutions from the date of conviction to the completion of the next academic term. The Act shall apply only with respect to felony offenses committed on or after July 1, 1990. The Georgia Student Finance Authority is authorized to define such terms and prescribe such rules, regulations, and procedures as may be reasonable and necessary to carry out the purposes of the Act.
