Student Access Loan (SAL)
The Student Access Loan (SAL) Program is a state need-based, educational low interest loan administered by the Georgia Student Finance Authority (GSFA). The purpose of the program is to assist with the affordability of a college education at one of Georgia’s public technical colleges and encourage timely persistence to the achievement of postsecondary credentials. The loans, or portions of the loans, are forgivable for recipients who graduate with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5.
Applications are only accepted in pre-designated application cycle periods. If you are planning to enroll in a certificate, diploma or degree program at a Technical College in Georgia, visit www.gafutures.org for additional details and to submit your initial SAL application. To apply for a Student Access Loan, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, www.fafsa.ed.gov, then visit https://www.gafutures.org to complete the SAL application.
SAL eligibility requires:
- Demonstration of financial need on the FAFSA
- Completed FAFSA and financial aid file with Augusta Technical College
- Two-year proof of Georgia residency
Applicants may or may not be selected, by GSFA, and selection does not guarantee approval
