Program Description: A student in this program will develop basic skills pertaining to the properties of wastewater, and water operations related to collection, treatment and analysis. The terminology and equipment used by the industry along with the mathematics and chemistry and biology applied to wastewater treatment. Laboratory techniques and methods, regulations, licensing, and certification process are included.
Employment Opportunities: There is a growing need for wastewater quality technicians to support the needs of local (city/county), and state municipalities as well as other business and industry involved in treating and delivering water. Wastewater technicians are in increasing demand as our population grows and demand for water increases along with the demand for water treatment and wastewater processing. A rewarding career awaits with potential for advancement. Technicians are responsible for collection and treatment of wastewater. This includes chemical and biological treatment, analysis, data recording and reporting, and the use and maintenance of equipment and lab facilities. Safe and proper handling of materials is stressed.
