CHEM 1100 NUCLEAR PLANT CHEMISTRY
Provides an introduction to basic chemical principles and concepts which explain the behavior of matter. Topics include measurements, structure of matter, chemical bonding, chemical and nuclear reactions, gas laws and pressure, liquid mixtures, acids and bases, pH, and fundamentals of water chemistry related to a nuclear power plant. A description of how the chemical and nuclear processes occurring at a nuclear power plant are interrelated. The laboratory exercises support classroom learning. Safety concepts will be emphasized in all experiments and statistical analysis will be applied.
